Benefits
This collard green wrap is an excellent source of fiber and essential veggies, meat, and nuts for your luteal phase. This recipe will make approximately six wraps.
Collard greens have so many benefits that range from boosting bone health to liver function and digestion. They are a good source of vitamin A, vitamin C, iron, and fiber. They also contain choline which can help with mood, sleep, and muscle movement. Folate (vitamin B9) is also present in choline, which can be vital to take during your luteal phase as it usually comes with mood swings and depressive tendencies. Folate can also help support healthy metabolism and fertility. These leafy greens can also be especially helpful before menstruation as they can also help with cramps and bloating.
A high-quality hummus can add essential nutrients to your wrap. Hummus can have around 1g of protein and 1g of fiber per tablespoon. Tomatoes are also a good source of fiber along with antioxidants, vitamin C, and potassium. Foods rich in fiber can help you feel fuller longer and help suppress cravings.
Cabbage is high in vitamin C, K, and folate. All of these are essential nutrients and beneficial during your luteal phase. Beef is high in B vitamins and iron. Iron is important to consume as your body gets ready for your menstrual phase.
Sunflower and sesame seeds help support progesterone levels which is a key hormone during your luteal phase. Selenium found in sunflower seeds helps detox the liver of excess estrogen. To find out more about the benefits of seed cycling check out this page.
